In this third issue of International News in 2022, we feature a contribution by SCOR, a leading reinsurer, highlighting the Actuarial Awards that SCOR presents annually, since 1996, to the best academic work in actuarial science, with annual prizes in several countries throughout the world.

We also feature an article by Jessica Leong, FCAS, on barriers that Asian women must overcome to become leaders. Jessica recounts her own experience and how in overcoming some challenges she became the first Asian president of the Casualty Actuarial Society.

In other news, the section continues its collaboration with the Social Insurance and Public Finance Section in creating a research project on paid family leave benefits in selected countries and how they stack against benefits being provided by a few states in the U.S.

We have launched an assessment of session content for the sessions allotted to our section, in the 2022 SOA ImpACT Conference (October 23–26, 2022, in Orlando, Florida.) Suggestions are welcomed.

As always, we are looking to recruit volunteers for our international activities, and we are also contemplating introducing micro-volunteering tasks, where a modest amount of time can be invested in specific tasks. Should you be interested in micro-volunteering, please contact me at ca@ArochaAndAssociates.ch.
