This paper provides a detailed description of this type of group life insurance, which the author defines as a plan which provides for periodic employee contributions to purchase paid up insurance, term insurance provided by the employer for the scheduled amount less the paid up insurance, and which usually allows for cash surrender after termination of employment. The author provides a brief history, and detail on plan design including premiums and participating features, disability benefits, cash value provisions, coverage schedules, employee contribution schedules, underwriting, and valuation.
